Model Railroad – Scale Version of A Large Past

Oct 08 2008

The hazy smoke rolls through the smoke box and by the boiler on its journey out the chimney; there’s no need to worry, this is from a model railroad scale version of its real life counterpart. Surrounding the diminutive locomotive is a diorama that brings to life a world of another century and time. Green rolling hills are parallel the tracks as the wind between the peaks and valleys; crystal blue water flowing gently under the truss bridges carrying the trains over the stream.

Imagine that first time you saw the large object of something stashed over in the corner of the living room! You’re dad was smiling with anticipation for you to find out what it was; to which he was greatly rewarded by the joyous screams of his child…He had bought you a model train set and could not wait to help you set it up in the basement.

Many years later, you can still escape to the small world that has been created; all the while small trains make their lonely journeys across vast expanse of “land”.

Whether it is N-Scale, HO Scale or any other scale model train, there is an unending passion to collect these miniature train sets and create worlds apart from the one that is bombarded with texts from the blackberry, unending spam in our email and computers that are constantly crashing and needing patches to keep them turning on.

Thankfully, model railroads do not need the ever changing expanse of knowledge just to turn them on. They are a labor of love that allows you to relax and most importantly feel young and vibrant again.

G Scale Model Trains

Nov 12 2012

There are significant cost differences between model railroad scales.  Big trains are far more expensive than the mass-produced smaller scales such as HO and N. But one train with only a few cars can make a very arresting impression as it rolls through a well-planned garden route or layout. The Articulated G trains might eliminate all the braking and also reduce the massive maintainence of this coaster. You thought 1700ft on Voyage was a ton of work. Grading has to be very gentle, especially with big G trains. A slight change in grade will have a marked effect on how your railway looks.
LGB trains are big, as they are made in G scale , the largest of the commonly available model train scales. LGB G scale trains are sturdy, and are better able to withstand rough handing by kids than other, smaller scales. These numbers are located on the ?nose? of the train and on manufacturer plates that were originally affixed to the trucks, cars and locomotive body (at least on the G-16 models). While looking at various trains I have found that over the years these numbers seem to disappear from the train. As an official amtrak licensee of the Acela Express train, Bachmann is proud to present this model in the award-winning Spectrum line. This is a BIG train train and is referred to as “G” scale, which is approximately ? inch to the foot or 1:22.5 inches, about twice the size of Lionel trains. The locomotive is about 16 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and 8 inches high with a 2 inch wheelbase. FEATURES: A complete G scale electric train set with UL listed power pack.
